It is a Greek myth. Long time age, there was no fire on earth. Human beings ate raw food, and they suffered from the cold, living in the darkness. Gods Prometheus and his brother Epmetheus have mercy on mankind , despite the ban on the main god Zeus, stolen the fire from the sun god Apollo to give to humanity, humans learned to use fire. Since then, the world had become a warm one, in which people lived harmoniously and happily. When Zeus learned of this, he became very angry and decided to let catastrophe befall human. Zeus ordered his son Hephaestus to mould a woman with earth, named Pandora, having the meaning of all endowed.

Every god was joined to give her a unique gift to perfect her. Aphrodite brought her beauty; Hermes gave her persuasion; Apollo endowed her gift of music. Zeus gave Pandora a sealed box which filled with scourge, disaster and plagues and ask her to send it to her husband. Zeus ship off the beauty to the earth, every body was surprised by the unmatched beautiful woman, because there has never been such a woman. Pandora immediately went to look for"the enlightened"-Epimetheus, he was the younger brother of Prometheus,who was honest kindness for people. Prometheus was deeply convinced that Zeus was hostile to human and warned his younger brother, Epimetheus, not to accpet the present from Zeus.

But he did not listen to advice, married the beautiful Pandora. Pandora's hands holding her gift, which is a big gift box sealed. When she just got close to Epimetheus, she opened the lid for curiosity. Without the clear idea of what present existed in the box, a black fog flied out from the box immediately which can brought adversities to the earth. The black smoke is full of disease, madness, disaster, evil, jealousy, adultery, theft, greed and other kinds of scourges, these scourges rapidly scattered on the earth. However, when happiness and hope which were secretly put in the box by Athena who wanted to save human did not get the chance to skip out, Pandora closed the box. Therefore, mortal world was filled with various adversities.

It was said that Pandora opened the box for curiosity about the last thing again! Some body says: what flew out from the box are all disasters, they scattered over the world, fortunately, hope is still in our hands and it keeps us can endure the unfortunate life. Other people said: all the happiness came out of the box, they fled to the earth everywhere prematurely, remained in our hands the "hope" was only an empty phantom. In fact, this box is to represent the disaster and evil! By analogy it is often used to create the root of disaster and misfortune.
